The newly redeveloped FoodCourt, now located at Fugalei Market, was officially opened today.
Hundreds turned up this afternoon for a ‘taste and sample’ of the delectable mouthwatering selection. And their reaction afterwards?
The ribbon was cut by Chairman of the ACC Board of Directors, Leoo Dr. John Adams.
Loabay’s Samoa-based Correspondent, Maina Vai – at the scene was able to share with us a delightful account of the succulent meals for all tastes and all manners of scrumptious preferences, starting from a selection of Samoan food, Chinese dishes, Indian curries as well as beverage bars.
With a total of 9 food outlets operating daily, it surely will become a one-stop food shop.
Besides a solid turnout from members of the public, the event was also well attended by government officials.
Honourable Minister for Public Enterprises, Lautafi Theo Purcell, in his keynote address stated it was not an easy decision for the government to approve the redevelopment of the Food Court complex, noting the challenges experienced in the past relating to food scraps and garbage management causing drainage issues. He also challenged and reminded the food outlet operators and Management Board to be persistent and maintain determination and consistency in their trading practices.
The design, construction and project management was carried out by Schwalger Designs and Building Ltd and Tinai Gordon & Associates with project costs of around $1,161,085.95 SAT.
In wrapping up his official address, Honourable Lautafi Purcell acknowledged the work of other subcontractors and local enterprises involved in bringing the project to fruition stating that it is the government’s desire to ignite local entrepreneurship and resourcefulness.
